50 kW Deviar MHEP, Neriamangalam

Deviyar MHEP is another environmental friendly project in Periyar river basin located in the remote and beautiful village of Kaniraveli. The scheme is planned as a run of the river, canal scheme utilising excess water available from the weir of the Kanjiraveli Irrigation scheme of Irrigation Department, Government of Kerala. The water from the weir is conveyed to the powerhouse by strengthening old open rectangular channel, originally meant for irrigation, for a length of 300 meters. In the powerhouse two horizontal cross flow turbines with an installed capacity of 25 KW each is used for the generation of an average annual energy of 2 lakh units of electricity. The project is equipped with state of the art automation technology and remote monitoring and controlling equipments to effectively reduce manpower and to increase system efficiency and reliability, in order to deliver maximum generation.
